About us

Who we are

For almost one hundred years, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Hebbronville has been under the pastoral care of the Franciscan friars of  the Saints James and Francis Province, a branch of the worldwide Roman Catholic fraternity of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM) that was founded by St. Francis of Assisi in 1223.

During the early years, the entire Province was located here including the Franciscan Seminary due to the religious persecutions in Mexico at that time. Today, there are two full time priests and one religious brother whose responsibility includes the main Parish of Our Lady Guadalupe in Hebbronville and its missions in the Diocese of Laredo.

Mission Statement

We, the Catholic Community of Our Lady of Guadalupe, as a group of caring, compassionate disciples, are called to holiness. Baptized in water and the Spirit, we gather around Christ in the Eucharist. Nourished by the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, we go forth to do corporal and spiritual works of mercy to fulfill His command, "Love one another as I have loved you." Continually formed in Word and Sacrament, we commit ourselves to the New Evangelization.
